Lauren's World“Do one thing every day that scares you” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt February 02 Lilo's Big Adventure
I just wanted to let everyone know (so I don't have to retell the story), that Lilo has moved down to San Diego to live with my parents. She has a severe need to have constant companionship, something that as a single person I just could not provide. She was continually getting sick and losing hair from the stress and anxiety of spending even a few minutes alone and was developing some fear aggression and constant barking issues. I spoke with her breeder and at least one of her littermates has the same problem. We believe it's because those two in particular were crated together until they were 5 months old. Choosing to give her up is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make and I certainly did not do it lightly, but I knew I had given her all I could and that she was still suffering and could be happier somewhere else. I love her way too much to selfishly keep her with me. Lilo is doing very well with my parents and always has at least one dog with her if not multiple dogs and people. She has not been alone for 1 second since my dad picked her up at the airport; and all the difficulties she was having up here resolved within days! Initially it was a temporary arrangement to see if she really did improve in a larger pack as I believed she would, but now that we have confirmed that this is what she needs, my parents have decided to keep her. Lilo is loving life, running all over my parents' property, scrambling up rocks and figuring out how to escape from any containment solution my parents devise. My mom is excited to have an athletic dog that she can do performance work with again as well as be able to take her dogs out individually now without leaving anyone home alone. Since she is at my parents' I will still be able to see her which makes me immensely happier than if I just had to say goodbye forever. It's the perfect solution.
I am going to take a break from being a dog mom for a couple of months, but even the last couple of weeks have been rough and I am already looking for my next puppy this time I'm planning on getting a dog that doesn't outweigh me! :-)). Thank you to all of those that let Lilo in your life and thank you to everyone that supported me through this decision and the past year. ~Lauren May 04 Two Worlds CollideH to the Izzo V to the Izza!!!
Jay-Z spoke at the MSN Strategic Account Summit yesterday. I couldn't get in, but I saw his white limo leaving campus. March 22 Hood River, Newfs and 1 cute little boy!I recently took a day trip to Hood River, OR to visit some family friends. They have 4 newfs and a big dog camp!! I had lots of fun helping out with big dog play group, playing w/some puppies and mostly playing with Cameron, they're almost 3 year old son. I also stopped by some view points and visited the Mulnomah (think that's how it's spelled) Falls. Check out the pics! March 06 Davis tripI went down to Davis to visit my sis this past weekend. It was a quick trip, but we had a good time. EK got her first pair of designer jeans and I got to meet all her friends. Let me tell you, Vet students know how to have a good time! By John DickersonThis administration continues to baffle me and I don't understand how its supporters can just blindly take everything they feed or don't feed us (as the case may be).
Quote Cheney's Bad Aim - Shoot first; don't answer questions later. By John Dickerson Awesome weekend! We finally got some sunny weather and I tried to take advantage of every minute of it! Lilo and I went for a long walk on Sat. morning and then Mike and I took her to the snow for the first time. She loved it!! She just romped all around and fell in the deep parts and stuck her head way down in it when she didn't fall. It took her the rest of the weekend to recover! Then Sat. night Mike and I went and cheered on the Thunderbirds and watched drunk kareoke at Jaliscos over cold Mexican beer. It was a blast! Sun. Jill and I tried to participate in the Greenlake Valentine's day 5K, but it was mass pandemonium and way too much work for a 3 mile run, so we grabbed our shirts and just went for a run on our own. I didn't get to do my first race back but I did run 4 1/2 miles which is my farthest yet! Mike and capped off the weekend with a walk and lunch on Alki Sun. afternoon. Check out all the pics!
It's getting cold again and the rain is returning, but that means there'll be snow in the mountains, so I'll probably go boarding again this weekend!! :-) |
